Greater Sydney, Australia has 5.2m residents and as at June 2022, there were nearly 120,000 apartments in Greater Sydney. In June 2023, a little over 28,500 new apartments were built. According to the most recent Census data, over 30% of people who live in Sydney like in apartment buildings.
With the increasing move towards high density living and the desire to live close to the action more and more Sydney-siders are needing to be a part of community living. Judy and Fiona hope to bring both a sense of humour and value tips and advice to those living or or wishing to live in strata apartments.
Judy and Fiona come from different generations but have lived in the same strata apartment complex a number of times. Now living in different strata apartments Judy and Fiona wanted to do a project which bought them together for regular catch ups. After researching ideas they thought that talking about their experiences in strata might help others deal with the complexities and absurdities of strata living.
Originally called "Ill be up in 5", a term which Fiona regularly used when living under Judy, Strata Living Uncovered was born out of a desire to catch up regularly and share experiences and valuable information with other people who live in strata complexes around the world and particularly in Sydney Australia where more and more people are moving into apartment buildings as population density increases.
